# String Theory, Fundamental Physics and Geometry

String Theory is a framework of astonishing complexity. It relates to many aspects of Physics and Mathematics and has triggered close interactions between the two subjects. In this talk I would like to discuss one aspect of this interaction: the quest for string theory as a fundamental theory of nature on the one hand and geometry, both differential and algebraic, on the other hand. I will explain how methods in differential and algebraic geometry help to extract the physical implications of string theory and how the demands of string theory are pushing mathematical and computational boundaries.
